Maria Stein

Maria Stein Medals

Maria Stein is German and translates to mean Mary of the Rock. It is the name of a community and convent located in Mercer County, Ohio. It is found in the land of the Cross-Tipped Churches and there was a priest by the name of Father Francis Brunner that established churches for German Catholics.

The community has been in place since the early 19th century and the name likely comes from an area in Switzerland with a Benedictine Abbey.

Father Francis was responsible for creating the Missionaries of the Precious Blood and this is the order that is responsible for providing priest for the St. Johns Church found in Maria Stein.

The community is most notable and has a number of features, including a cross-tipped steeple, a farm house and much more. Maria Stein is deeply rooted in Roman Catholicism and has a Shrine of the Holy Relics, including body parts from saints.
